(New York, NY, September 30th, 2017) The 5TH Annual Image Entertainment & Distinction (IED) Awards took place at Kings Theatre in Brooklyn NY on September 30th 2017. It was a sensational and extravagant night of fun, excitement and unforgettable experiences, hosted by none other than Grammy Award winning reggae artist Shaggy and Actress/Singer, Tara Wallace of VH1 hit show Love & Hip Hop New York. There were electrifying performances by Jamaica legendary songstress, Marcia Griffiths,  international reggae superstar, Maxi Priest, and a truly unforgettable special performance from new artist Amber Lee.  The core mission of the IED Awards is to encourage, empower, and highlight individuals from all walks of life, who have through their efforts and contributions, managed to create extraordinary careers where a real difference was made in the lives of others.

The IED Awards for us in many ways did not  end on September 30th. It continues on through all the amazing and positive feedback from attendees and honorees alike. The SUEDE IED Empowerment Award was given to first lady of dancehall D’Angel while Rah Digga of Busta Rhyme  Flipmode Squad fame received the IED Hall of Fame Music Award.   Other 2017 honors included Maxi Priest receiving the Dr. Bobbi Peterson IED International Music Award, Marcia Griffiths receiving the Lifetime Achievement Icon Award, and distinctive leaders such as Dr. Dexter Mckenzie, private care physician for over 15 years, receiving the Outstanding Achievement Award. Rounding out the other honors given out for the night was Criminal and Civil Rights Lawyers Glenn A. Garber and Rebecca Freedman, who received the IED lifetime Humanitarian Award for their work with the Exoneration Initiative, a not-for-profit organization that provides free legal assistance to the unjustly convicted in New York State. They are known for taking on among the most challenging of cases that lack DNA evidence. With a very emotional acceptance speech photographer Roland Hyde received the Richie Rich Lifetime IED Media Award,   while  radio personality Roy Walters received the Glitzzy Hair IED Media Award.

“We are proud to honor those who have contributed to the community, society, and to the mission of making a difference. We are commemorating the men and women who set trends, save lives, and change the lives of others for the better, and we have the privilege to honor and celebrate them while they are alive, to show our love and appreciation for all that they do, and for me that is the greatest gift of all, said the IED Awards CEO, Diva Madonna ”

In continuing to recognize those we hold dear, the IED Awards was privileged to surprise Grammy artist and host Shaggy with an official Proclamation from Brooklyn Borough President, Eric Adams, and personally presented by Congresswoman Yvette Clarke, who herself received the Lorna Mae Johnson 2017 IED Community Service Award. Soul Singer Melisa Morgan  who had the audience begging for more during her performance,  walked away with the Lifetime Image Award. The 2017 IED Awards was produced by IED Awards Founder & CEO/celebrity blogger/radio personality Diva Madonna and Jammins Events.

The 5-years history of the IED Award with all its unforgettable moments will only get bigger and better. Special thanks to all the sponsors, models, presenters, media, designers and supporters.
