Halloween Night Angela Simmons Is Set To Host The Monsters Of Rap Honoring Jam Master Jay With Live Performances By French Montana, Jadakiss, and Juelz Santana

On Thursday October 31, 2013 Hammerstein Ballroom Will Serve As The Backdrop To A Star Studded Event Honoring The Memory of Jam Master Jay Presented By His Son Jam Master J’Son

New York, NY — Friday, October 4, 2013 — In just a few short weeks, on Halloween night, Hammerstein Ballroom will transform into a star-studded evening filled with some of the biggest names in Hip Hop. On Thursday, October 31st Angela Simmons will serve as the Mistress of Ceremonies, hosting The Monsters of Rap, which will pay tribute to the late Jason “Jam Master Jay” Mizzell of Run DMC. Event-goers will enjoy live performances by French Montana, Jadakiss, and Juelz Santana, to name a few. The evening will commence with red carpet arrivals at 6:30pm. Select guests who purchase Meet And Greet passes will enter Hammerstein Ballroom, prior to the start of the event, to mix and mingle with the celebrities and VIP guests in attendance. Doors will open to the general public at 8pm. Performances will begin promptly at 9pm and a special tribute honoring the memory of Jam Master Jay will begin shortly after 10pm, presented by none other than his son, Jam Master J’Son. The night will focus on the importance of Hip Hop and the global contributions that Hip Hop has made, as a culture, to society. Nicholai Khan, celebrity painter, will be on site painting a live installation of Jam Master Jay. The family will be presented with the finished painting a special gift from The Monsters of Rap event producers – Dream Team Nation, Inc. in association with Hot 97, Joe Jaxson, and UptownMadness Ent. Jason “Jam Master Jay” Mizell was the DJ of the legendary and influential hip hop group Run–D.M.C., along with members Joseph “Run” Simmons and Darryl “D.M.C:” McDaniels. Run-D.M.C. became the biggest Hip Hop group in the 1980’s and is credited with breaking Hip Hop into mainstream music. He was noted as No. 10 on Spin’s list of the “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time” for his infamous turntable magic on classic guitar records. Mizell played keyboards, bass, and live drums in addition to his turntable work. He also scored major success in 1993 with the Hip Hop group Onyx. Jam Master Jay also founded the ‘Scratch DJ Academy’ in Manhattan to “provide unparalleled education and access to the art form of the DJ and Producer.”
