Aisha Davis

Few performers have the dexterity and confidence to switch with ease from one discipline to another and become successful at it. Bermudan born Aisha Davis, a trained modern contemporary dancer, singer/songwriter, accomplished actress, Voice Over artist, voice tutor and Master of Ceremony is one of those few.
As a former member of the now defunct Little People and Teen players club and one of the founding members of the highly acclaimed ASHE performing arts ensemble, she began immersing into the full spectrum of performing and was casted in lead roles for two of the company’s original musicals; ‘Solid’ (also a writer) and ‘nuff respect for nature’. Aisha decided to part ways with the ensemble to focus on developing her skills in dancing and thus began her training with the L’acadco dance company and at the Edna Manley school of dance. Trained in ballet, folk, L’antech, Afro-Caribbean & Cuban techniques, Aisha rose to prominence as a principal dancer and subsequently dance captain under the guidance of the director and lead choreographer Dr. L’antoinette Stines. She later received the Alma Mock Yen award for excellence in Dance Theatre. While enjoying success of being a dancer performing locally and on the international stage representing Jamaica in the USA, Canada and the Caribbean, Aisha’s love for acting and singing came to fore and the budding diva made a decision to take a break from the dance world to get back on stage as a singer and actress. It was then that she auditioned for a role in the Jamaica Musical Theatre Company’s adaptation of the ‘Phantom of the Opera’ and landed two leading roles (Christine and Carlotta) she was also later casted in yet another double leading roles in their adaptation of ‘Dreamgirls’. Aisha went on to landing roles in Easton Lee’s ‘The rope and the cross’, in independent films ‘Nothing but ghosts’ and ‘Goat head’ as well as the female lead in the Balfour Anderson written stage play ‘No Compromise’.
As a singer and recording artiste Aisha has toured extensively as a solo act as well as backing and lead vocalist for Kymani Marley, Alborosie, reggae legend Cocoa tea, diamond selling reggae/dancehall superstar Shaggy and dancehall icon Shabba Ranks. Not only has she toured and performed to sold out crowds in Europe, India, Africa, the USA and the Caribbean, Aisha has also performed on some of Jamaica’s top shows such as Carifesta, Reggae Sumfest and the Jamaica Jazz and Blues festival. In 2012 she had the opportunity of being the opening act for reggae’s living legend and icon Jimmy Cliff at the Le Bataclan in Paris, France and wowed the near 3000 patrons in attendance.
Aisha has worked with several top local music producers including Bobby Digital, Donovan Germaine, Steven ‘Lenky’ Marsden, Tony ‘CD’ Kelly, Kunley McCarthy of Ward21 music, Kirk ‘kirkledove Bennett, Renaissance music group and Black Spyda as well as with international producers Upsetta records (USA), Asha D (UK) & South Trade records (Amsterdam).
She has amassed a large catalogue of singles and notable collaborations with the likes of Tony Curtis, Richie Stephen’s, Anthony B with whom she has the smash hit ‘Someone Loves You Honey’. The song was a chart topper and was featured on BET and Tempo. She also collaborated with dancehall star Aidonia on two hit singles ‘Heart is hers’ produced by Equinoxx music and ‘In your Eyes’ produced by Black Spyda, the former of which was a chart topper and secured them a nomination for best collaboration.
With new singles ‘We Got Love’ ‘We Got Love remix’ featuring Mr. Lexx and ‘Funny Feeling’ a collaberation with Double X ( Flexx of T.O.K) getting quite a buzz on air especially in South America and several music projects underway, wrapping a successful run as Gina Robinson in David Tulloch’s comedic drama ‘What Goes Around’ and as Lisa in the Dredz productions ‘Special Cuts’, Aisha shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
