Glam Chats With Recording Artist GoGo Morrow
GoGo: Hi Glam Thanks so much for having me. I’m really excited to do this interview.
Glam: Tell us who GoGo is?
GoGo: GoGo is a sassy, fun, and easy going girl who loves to sing, dance and tell her stories through her music.
Glam: Where are you from?
GoGo: I’m from West Philadelphia, Born and raised 🙂
Glam: You are a recording artist, when and how did
you know you wanted to become an artist?
GoGo: I knew I wanted to be an artist at a very young age. I was singing before I could talk, so music was in me since a baby. When I got older I was able to develop my own taste in music. I fell in love with all the R&B stars like Deborah Cox and Brandy. That’s when I knew I wanted to be doing what they did.
Glam: You have toured with great artist like Lady Gaga. How did you become a part of her entourage?
GoGo: The story of how I got with Lady Gaga is very funny. I auditioned for something completely different 2 weeks before and thought I didn’t get the gig. One day while on vacation in Miami I get a call from a weird number and I didn’t answer. (I thought it was a bill collector..lol) Turns out it was a voicemail from Lady Gaga’s music director who was at the Audition. He asked me if I was interested in coming on tour and the rest is history.
Glam: You are a song writer, singer and dancer. Which do you think is your best talent?
GoGo: Hmm that’s a difficult question…… I would probably have to say singing. It’s my first love; the very first thing I ever had a passion for, but dancing and song writing come very close.
Glam: You have performed at many concerts, which performance would you say meant the most to you thus far?
GoGo: Well I have a show coming up on Friday (March 1st). I will be performing as Brandy’s special guest and I think that one will really mean the most to me thus far, for 2 reasons. One: It gives me an opportunity to do even better than I’ve done before. You have to keep progressing and I view each show as another chance to do so. Secondly: Brandy was one of my idols growing up. I studied her every move, so the mere fact that I am sharing a stage with her really shows how far I’ve come. It also confirms that I’m walking in my purpose and that makes me very happy.
Glam: What is next for GoGo, and what projects are you working on?
GoGo: Well I’m still creating my album. We have more than enough songs but my life is ever changing so I always have things to write and sing about. Also, I have my video coming out very soon and we are debating on what will be the second single.
Glam: What is life like on the road, and how do you get your mind in the mood for a performance?
GoGo: Life on the road was fun and crazy. You’re in a different country every other day and if you aren’t careful you can really miss it because everything moves so fast. That’s why I always try to get out and see the culture, and people. Even if it was only for a few hours. I don’t want to ever miss an opportunity to smell the roses.
Glam: What are your favorite beauty products?
GoGo: I have so many! (Laughing) I love all MAC products of course but my favorite Mac Lipstick is “ruby woo.” I also love NARS liquid foundation and lipsticks as well. My favorite NARS lipstick is called SCHIAP. My last favorite is a company I discovered when I was in Poland, It’s called Inglot. They have the best shades of lip gloss and lipstick ever! As you can see I really love cosmetics and all things girly. (Laughing)
Glam: Tell us something about you that may surprise us?
GoGo: I don’t know how to jump double Dutch. I was a weird child. I never wanted to be outside and play like normal kids, I’d much rather sit in the house and watch videos on “The Box” (Laughing)
Glam: Which the industry today, what makes you different from any other female artist?
GoGo: I consider myself an artist in every sense of the word. I studied my art, I worked behind the scenes and I’ve been performing professionally since I was 9 years old. Music wasn’t something I fell into. It’s something I’ve loved forever and I think that you can really hear that when I sing on my records and when I perform.
Glam: How would you describe your sense of style?
GoGo: My style is kind of Hodge podgy. I dress how I feel, so my look varies from day to day. I just like things that are fashionable and fit well; Oh and I like to wear really tall shoes (Laughing)
Glam: Females have it harder in the music industry. Have you ever experience sexual harassment?
GoGo: I’ve never experienced sexual harassment but I’ve definitely been in vulnerable situations. Because I know that woman have it harder, I’ve always made it very clear to whomever I am around or working with that it is strictly biz. That is the only way to get your respect as a woman in this industry. I’ve had many doors closed in my face because of how I am, but I don’t mind. I rather have my integrity than a record deal. I don’t mind having my integrity and a record deal though. (Laughing)
Glam: What would you tell other females who want to follow in your career path?
GoGo: I would tell them that it’s difficult industry to be in, but if it’s really where your passion is then go for it; but go full throttle. Educate yourself and know your business. Don’t compromise yourself and do not rely completely on someone else because at the end of the day, it’s your life.
Glam: Thanks again for chatting with us, can’t wait to hear and see you performing at the Grammy.
GoGo: Thanks to you for allowing me this platform, the pleasure is mine.
