Glam Chats With Celebrity Dancer Alvester Martin
Glam: Hi Alvester, thanks for the interview! Where are you from?
Alvester: Hey, thanks so much for having me…I’m a southern boy from Miami, Florida
Glam: Do you come from a big family?
Alvester: Actually I do… I was raised by my grandparents, whom are two of my most favorite people in the entire world; but we’re all pretty close…needless to say. My family is very important to me.
Alvester: Hmmm let’s see…Well they all are very proud of me and supportive; pretty much the same way a lot of families might be. At the same time, my current successes are pretty normal to them. I’ve been in the business since I was 5 years old, so they’ll give me a call and congratulate me on various things and then keep it moving. They’re more concerned with score of Miami Heat game that may be on TV, or in my grandparents case, if Walmart had a sale that day (LOL). But, I love it though, it keeps me grounded.
Alvester: Let’s see… that’s a hard one… I place a significant amount of value on everything that I’ve experienced thus far because without each accomplishment I wouldn’t be where I am today… So with that said, I ‘ll just say that I don’t really have a favorite, or at least none come to mind that stand out more than the other…They all are special. If I would have had the chance to work with Michael Jackson that would’ve easily been my absolute favorite; and most memorable.
Alvester: You guys are slick! (LOL) First I’ll say that I was a professional dancer, but all of the artists that I’ve worked with namely Beyonce, Mariah, Rihanna as well as others, are all huge stars in their own right and have had huge success and many accomplishments that I hope one day to achieve. Not to mention, they all are different and equally amazing; especially when you have the opportunity to work closely with them and watch and learn from them. So in my opinion neither is” bigger” than the other in my eyes…like I said, they all are great.
Alvester: Well I was a professionally trained ballet dancer by the time I was 16; and had a great career in that arena at a young age. Not to mention, I studied contemporary modern and tap. Not till later on in moving to LA, did I transition into hip-hop. At this point I guess I’ll say that ballet and hip-hop are my forte; weird but, true.
Alvester: Actually, I was a singer first. I started singing as a kid as well and playing instruments… My reason for moving to LA was for my music career. I just fell into dancing because it paid the bills, and it paid them well. (LOL) But yeah, singing was always the initial goal. I do love doing both, but music and singing is definitely first for me.
Alvester: What’s next… well right now it’s all music 200% and all that comes along with that– shows, tours, singles, albums, hopefully sold out shows, tours, and number #1 singles and albums. (LOL) Down the line who’s to say… I caught the acting bug while living in LA so movies eventually, like I said who knows… I’m a guy with many surprises, but just to reiterate music is definitely the main focus right now… my EP “The Other Side” is tentatively scheduled for an April release.
Alvester: Wow… that’s a big one. I’d say “follow your dreams,” and keep God first. Never let ANYONE tell you what you can and can not accomplish. It may sound a little bit cliche, but as God is my witness, it’s the absolute truth! Oh, and like my grandparents tell me, “Watch as well as pray!”
Glam: Is being being a dancer, is that a lucrative career?
Alvester: Yes, it can be. For me it was very much so. But, I want more and dancing for me was a stepping stone into what I really want for myself.
Alvester: The perks are being able to travel around the world, and getting paid to do it. (LOL) Really the best thing is that I’m blessed enough to do what I love for a living.
Glam: Thanks again for chatting with us, you are a man with many talents! We Can’t wait to see what’s next.
Alvester: Thanks to you too.
