” Face The Sweet” NYC Fashion Week
Among the notables in attendance, were the fabulous Plus Size Super Model Christina Mendez, wearing a curve-fitting ASOS dress, the Legend of Hip Hop herself, Roxanne Shante, representing type2sweet (her team in this fight against Diabetes), Evron “Mello” Andrews, owner of Full Blossom Magazine, along with Presenter of Face The Sweet, Celebrity Fitness Instructor Charity Lynette, of Curvy Chick Fitness,and alluring Plus Model/Ashley Stewart In-store Model Asia Monet. Joining them were Comedian/Actor Michael Blackson, Celebrity Designer Shanda Freeman, Celebrity Therapist Vladimire Calixte of TLC Channel Starter Wives, Celebrity Gossip Columnist Mara The Hip Hop Socialite, Celebrity Designer JustRaymona, acclaimed Celebrity Designer Patricia Freeman of Denim Blu Designs, BET Rip The Runway Model Ask Mocha, Hip Hop duo Conceptz, Founder and Executive Director of Divabetic® Max Szadek, Plus Night Out Founder Jovanna Reyes, Managing Editor of Full Blossom Magazine “Barbie Armstrong”, and the amazing “Catherine Schuller” of BEHIND IT Magazine and Model Maker Mentors. Also, Blanche Will of B.Pretty Inc. was responsible for Roxanne Shante & Charity Lynette’s wonderful Red Carpet looks.
Sponsors for this event made a big impact on the show, with their kind donations of time, products and services. The main focus of the pageant, was on the Plus Model Community. They were able to showcase their individual styles beyond that of everyday looks designed for the “Real Size Women”. This was an undeniably moving sight to see, full of confidence and joie de vivre. The models strutted before a packed house, with scores of onlookers, and a plethora of media outlets snapping away, dramatically underscoring the importance of this iconic event. Mello Andrews states, “This is exactly what I pictured. People coming together for fashion and a great cause. It was a huge honor, to be able to raise funds for Divabetic and we will look forward to continuing our efforts.”
