Christmas In Brooklyn Recap
December 22, 2014 (New York, NY) – This past Friday, December 19, 2014, iconic stations WBLS 107.5, your #1 source for R&B, and HOT 97, the #1 station for Hip Hop, hosted the ultimate holiday show, “Christmas in Brooklyn”, presented by AT&T. Held at Barclays Center, the sister-stations joined together for the first time ever to celebrate the holidays with performances by legendary Hip Hop group Run DMC, rapper & actor LL Cool J featuring DJ Z-Trip, Christian Hip Hop artist Lecrae, R&B crooner K. Michelle, and rapper & Rev Run’s son, Diggy. People of all ages came out, many of whom boasted throwback outfits to the 90s in honor of Run DMC and LL’s signature styles. HOT 97 and WBLS’ legendary DJs mixed the crowd’s favorite Hip Hop and R&B tunes from the 90s and today, while Santa was spotted dancing in the aisles.
Rev Run’s son, Diggy, got the night started, showing the audience that he is his father’s son, with strong vocals and electrifying energy! Next, Lecrae took to the stage, to perform hits from his chart-topping album, Anomaly, while the beautiful K. Michelle blew the audience away with her powerful voice and sexy style. Once LL Cool J hit the stage, the crowd was on its feet and ready to dance! During his set, LL brought out special guests BBD, Raekwon, EPMD, Troy Ave, Canibus, & Murda Mook and performed his classic hits, including “Doin’ It” and “Poison”. In an epic ending, Run DMC closed out the show with an exhilarating performance of their timeless hits, such as “Tricky” and “Walk This Way”. Several celebrities were spotted backstage including Fat Joe, Pete Rock, and Wesley Snipes. The night took a more serious note when the family of Eric Garner was introduced on stage for a heartfelt moment paying respect to the late New Yorker.
