Glam Chats With Actress Michele Lawson
Michele: I am doing well.
Where are you from ?
Michele: Harlem, New York is my Hometown, but I am a all around New Yorker.
When did you decide you wanted to be an Actress?
Michele: I always wanted to be an actress, since I was 5 years old. Then I actually had the chance and I knew I wasn’t ever going to stop. LOL
Being a black actress , has race ever played a part in you not getting a role?
Michelle: I do not believe so. I have always submitted or been submitted for a role in which they were seeking an African American Actress. The situation may occur for others. But for me I really went after the roles that called for my description.
You have appeared in many leading TV dramas including Law and Order, tell us about that experience?
Michele: It was an awesome experience to be called in after submitting my headshot for another role. I was able to meet the leads, Christopher Meloni and Mariska Hargitay. They are so personable and laid back. Working with the late great Robin Williams was great. We had a great time.
How do you prepare for a role ?
Michele: I study the script and research the role. If it is a “period” piece set in a specific time period. I make sure my wardrobe is appropriate. I try to become the person I am playing and “live in that moment”.
Tell us about some of the roles you have played?
Michele: I have played the role of Pauline Oberdorfer in a documentary called, The Black Sorority Project. The role of a police officer in an industrial film, Abduction. I played myself on the show, Cinematherapy and I played the role of Shelby, a songwriter in the play, A Troubled Little Angel.
What are some of your greatest accomplishments?
Michele: I have appeared in (3) Denzel Washington movies. I appeared on Law and Order and Law and Order, SVU. I am a published plus size model with experience in runway, fit and catalog/print work.
Which actor would you love to work with in the future?
Michele: This is such a hard choice. I would love to work with Taraji P. Henson, Gabrielle Union and Angela Bassett. I’m sorry. I tried to narrow it down.
You are also a model, between acting and modeling, which would you say is your favorite?
Michele: I love modeling, it’s really a chance for me to give a non verbal expression of my talent. but if I had to choose it would be acting. That is when I can really show talent and enjoy the talented people I can be around.
What other projects are you working on?
Michele: I am working on a few fashion shows in 2015 but my main focus will be commercial, commercial print and hopefully TV Hosting. I have gone on a few auditions for some print work and I hope to get the roles.
Tell us something about you, that may surprise us?
Michele: I am a 48 year old mother of five children, ages 7 to 26. But my “stage age” is 38.
Where do you want to see yourself in the next 5 years?
Michele: I see myself in television commercials, some commercial/lifestyle print work, a role in a few upcoming films and hosting a show on HGTV.
